Working On...Working Out

Hello to everyone! I've been making all sorts of messes around here and wanted to share some images today of what I've been up to the last couple of weeks.
Working on some photography for my website, some magazine projects and other things.
I really need to get more stock on the site and have projects lined up as well as some new stock on the way that you won't find elsewhere....
Orders for clients....
A pair of ginormous 3 ft tall candelabras that I finished for a very patient customer....
Have had several orders for my dress forms, including the wasp waisted version that I do. This one the client wanted in a blush pink....
Statement necklaces....I did these a few years back and working on some orders and new designs coming in the Fall to the website.....
A vintage barkcloth and antique lace pillow for another long time client....
And I've been trying to stay in shape, working out, cooking and eating right. I'm getting older....we all are, LOL...so it must be a priority and a lifestyle. I'm thinking maybe of doing some blog posts about my routines if anyone might be interested?
This is me, taken today actually....
Off to the beach home tomorrow for a long weekend and hoping that Hurricane Isaac stays far, far away from us....please keep your finger's crossed!

Luxurious Affordable White Slipcovers With Ruffles! Shabbyfufu Style...

Hello everyone....it's raining (pouring actually!) here in South Florida this afternoon and since my outdoor plans are on hiatus for now I thought I would share some photos that I recently shot.  It's no secret that I love white...and my own personal style is sort of a combination of what you might call shabby chic easy elegance mixed in with a bit of French/Nordic inspiration.

I love to use mostly white or cream in the soft goods...sofa, chairs, slipcovers...with touches of my favorite pale aquas and pinks in accessories. Set off against the dark floors that are actually porcelain tile that mimic stone and some rustic wood or original chippy paint in the hard goods...furniture.

Some shots in our dining area....with the FABULOUS slipcovers for the chairs that I sell on the website I simply slip them over my normal dining room chairs and they do fit most any normal sized chair for a complete new look.......

$99 Spare Room......Romantic Shabby Chic Style

Yes....my $99 guest room!

I'm hoping that sweet daughter who is coming home for a family love visit from Texas on Saturday is comfy/cozy in this space. She's a go getter, always busy working & traveling, so her time to visit is precious

Our home is pretty large I guess you could say...with 4 bedrooms, but at the moment they are all taken up with things...so I had to get creative and carve out a spot for her somewhere else. I came up with a $99 spare room and sharing some photos and tips below to inspire. You could do this anywhere...even in a basement if you have one!
Our home was built in the 60's, and has a useless large formal living room. I mean, who has those anymore? Years ago we broke through the kitchen to create an open concept with the family room....so other than as my photography studio the living room never sees any action.

So....
I made a little room within a room by temporarily dividing off a section, carved out just sweet girl in mind. I put up my photography backdrop screen on one side, and one of my clothing racks (left over from the days that I used to do shows) on another.
What looks like barn board siding is a roll up screen. On the clothing rack is a white sheet that is clamped on. I left the "room" open on one side so that she can get in (obviously!) and the other side is against the wall. When I took this photo I wasn't quite finished with the outside...looks better now:-)
Then I went to work making it a little cottage haven if you will....
Soft pillows with faded fabrics....
I added some more ruffled white sheets loosely draped inside the room for more privacy and because they look pretty!....
A tiny vintage Florentine table for her with some pretty pink roses...
Oh yeah....the $99 part? This is an Aerobed that I bought and it's REALLY comfy! Everything else was found and scrounged in my stash of stuff. If you don't have stuff....ask your friends, someone will!.....
She was a ballet dancer who went to a special high school for dance and although is working at a different sort of job now, still loves ballet...so I themed "her room" around it....
Soft place to land her feet with a vintage rug and some favorite magazines....
A pair of her old pointe shoes and a couple of white paper poms I just poked through the sheets for a sweet touch...
A yummy fringed throw for lounging, and some dried roses...
The nitty gritty.....rolling rack. You can find these inexpensively these days so be on the lookout at yard sales and such. I use mine so often for many things...
You may not want a photographers backdrop, but mine sure comes in handy...
Clips...you NEED some in your workroom and/garage, and can be found at Lowes/Home Depot, Amazon, or any hardware store.....
A bunch of magazines....I love InStyle and anything to do with interior design...
Stick~um or earthquake putty are great for hanging things up temporarily or holding in place. I hung the ballet painting up in "her room" with it, since it's only for a few days...

Something to think about if you need a spare room and don't have one....

See you soon, I'm going to spend time with my family over the next week and hope that you are enjoying your own summer!
