The Aqua Candelier Reveal, A French Buffet and More.....

Greetings everyone....I hope that you are having a great week so far.

I have been working on lots of different things and concentrating a little on some projects for my own home. In a previous post I showed you the chandelier that my husband was kind enough to bring home for me from it's abandoned state on a property that his company is working on. He knows that if I caught wind of him NOT bringing it home he would hear about that for a long time! I knew just what I wanted to do with it....and YES, the patina is natural from being outside in the south Florida elements for who knows how long.

As I mentioned before, it was too far gone to rewire....so it's now a candelere, rather than a chandelier. Here is the finished piece, which I love.....

I have it hanging in my kitchen over the island right now and will light the votives tonight and see how it looks, but I think it's going to end up on our covered patio with some faux candles (we call them "fandles")....
I went shopping snooping in a friend's garage the other day and saw this very, very long vintage French style dresser. She told me that she was planning on selling it and I nearly fainted when she said $30! We just brought it over today and this is where it will go, but after a transformation. It's going to be great for linen storage and replace the vintage white French caned table that's been there for awhile.....which is going behind my white tufted sofa.

I plan on refinishing it with some applique work and a milk paint finish. You'll see.....
Been working on lots of new things for the shop (dress forms, teacup chandelier), and opening up a new category with supplies that are pretty and feminine for all of you crafty ladies out there:-). You'll find silk ribbons from France, sachets, pretty vintage wallpapers, gift tags, millinery and more.......soon!
I have also been devoting a good deal of my days caring for this guy....my darling almost 10 yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is not well. I'll spare you the details, but Murphy has congestive heart failure and is on the decline. If you have pets you know how they are so special, so if you can, please think some good thoughts for him.....

See you soon my friends....leave a comment, I love to read them and hear from you
****NOTE****I've had a lot of traffic on this post via Homebound magazine. This blog post was written a year ago, and shortly after the post our darling Cavalier Spaniel passed away from his heart disease. Thank you for your kind and caring comments, means a lot to me...xo

Rescued By A Trained Husband

Hi everyone....I am taking a very quick break from the "packing & shipping dept"(aka my kitchen island these days) to quickly show you how well trained my husband is. He rescued this chandelier for me that was tossed aside in a property that is being worked on. Definitely looks like beyond trash to some....he knew that I would find a good use for it. Thanks Mr. honey!.....

LOVE this aqua patina!....

Although we are masters at rewiring around here with the hundreds of chandeliers created for the WEBSITE over the years, this one is too far gone to take apart. It's going to be a candelier.....as opposed to a chandelier. I hope that what I have in mind will work (hint, it's going to involve more AQUA)....I'll share it with you soon.....

Of course it won't have the glamour of the one below, which is my favorite chandelier that is hanging over our dining table at the beach house......
Have a beautiful week ahead and please come over to say hi and leave me a comment, I love to hear from you.....

White Bedroom Shots, A SALE & Romantic Prairie Style By Fifi O'Neill Plus Farnaz Tea Set Winner!

Whew....what a title! Thank you so very much to everyone who entered the giveaway on my blog...so much love here in bloglandia!

I have a winner that I will announce at the end of this post after inviting forcing you to look through some pictures:-) of some random shots that I took in our master bedroom. It's pretty much finished, but I'm still waiting to install hardwood floors. Since my husband has a construction business it's the old story of "the shoemaker's children" around here. Our house always waits until last on his part....until his guys are slow enough where he doesn't have to distract them over at our place. I'll post some more finished bedroom pictures with the existing tile floors (that are cracked!) soon, because if I wait until the wood happens...who knows when that might be.

White doesn't have to be boring if you use lots of textures and tones. I hope that you enjoy these close ups.....

So........The winner of the signed copy from Fifi O'Neill of the Romantic Prairie Style book (this will be sent directly from Fifi herself) and the over generous hand painted roses tea set and Teanoosh teas from our website artist Farnaz Farzad (Please visit our WEBSITE to see more of her gorgeous pieces!) is (ta daa!):
Abby's Paperie Garden...drawn at random

Congrats....you are a lucky lady, contact me with your shipping info!

I'm off to enjoy our beach home for a long weekend before it gets too hot here in Florida to soak up the sun. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing.....have a fabulous weekend and I'll see you again next week.

P.S......Thru the end of this weekend only, you can save 15% off all purchases over $100 on the website! Just enter the code FIFTEEN (not case sensitive) at checkout and click SUBMIT for the discount to take effect. We don't do this very often....so hope to see you there!

Spring Decorating Around My Home

Greetings everyone....I hope that you are having a great week so far.

It's a bit unusual for me to post on a Tuesday, in fact it's a bit unusual for me to have any free time to do some of the things that I  enjoy besides my busy website! I've decided to lighten up a bit over the last few days as I was really feeling some Shabbyfufu burnout....so I've postponed working to play!

I've been doing some sewing for my own home for a change and just finished some very simple slips and pillows for the dining room. As a collector of vintage linens for decades I have tons....I mean, literally closets and bins full of old tablecloths, fabrics, and trims. These chair slips were made from vintage Irish linen tablecloths....the pillows too. Very simple, plain white with ruffles. There's nothing like working with linen, especially the old stuff....lots of it...

I have also been playing around in Photoshop and although I'm normally not big in the joining dept, decided to link up with Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday today and use one of her awesome textures on these photos called Silence (which as you know is golden, so I'll be quiet now). I hope that you enjoy these photos....it's looking really Springy around my home!

There is still time to enter my GIVEAWAY for the Autographed copy of Romantic Prairie Style by Fifi O'Neill herself and the GORGEOUS hand painted roses tea set with teas by Farnaz Farzad by entering here: http://shabbyfufu.blogspot.com/2011/04/gorgeous-giveaway-galaromantic-country.html

Gorgeous Giveaway Gala!....Romantic Country Magazine & Romantic Prairie Style

First....I apologize if I haven't visited you lately, just crazy busy around here and I hope to catch up with my blog friends soon!

Today I am hosting A Giveaway Gala.....A Features Fete, whatever you want to call it....please read on as I have a fabulous giveaway for you!

I have known about this press for several months now, and since the new Summer issue of Romantic Country Magazine is now out I want to share a bit of lovely news with you.

As you may (or may not!) know I have a website shop (shabbyfufu.com) and we've been on the internet for over 12 years now.....hard to believe how the time has flown by! We offer products both new and old, commercial and handmade by several artisan friends (and moi). One of the artists who sells her beautiful work exclusively on Shabbyfufu is my dear friend Farnaz Farzad, who has been with us for quite a few years. She is a true artist who specializes in porcelain painting, not to mention a beautiful person both inside and out. I'm so thrilled that Farnaz is featured with a 2 page spread in this issue of RC!

The photos were taken at her home and studio in Los Angeles by the talented stylist and photographer Sunday Hendrickson.
The entire issue of Romantic Country is just GORGEOUS, and it's bittersweet that we recently learned it will be the last issue edited by the Fabulous Fifi O'Neill. If you don't subscribe (you should!) it's now out on the newsstands......

In honor of this issue and Farnaz's article we have a FABULOUS Giveaway for you! Farnaz painted a special porcelain tea set with her trademark Pink Roses just for this giveaway, and it's one that is not yet available on our website! You'll receive the exquisite covered teapot, the creamer and the covered sugar bowl. Included in this giveaway will also be a variety of teas for you to enjoy from her family business Teanoosh. This portion of the giveaway has a value of over $175....and rules to WIN this giveaway will be below......

The teas at Teanoosh teas are all organic and hand picked blends, so if you have a moment please go to their website.
I want to thank my dear friend FIFI for offering a SIGNED COPY of her new book Romantic Prairie Style to add to this giveaway! The book is just gorgeous....from cover to cover filled with Fifi's magical touch. It's a bestseller at Amazon, so if you don't have a copy yet...here is your chance to win a copy autographed by Fifi herself!.......
I've been so honored to work with the fabulous Fifi for several years now, ever since she first started out at Romantic Country and came here for a few days to photograph my home. I'm tickled to see some of the linens that she asked me to sew up for her own home shoot in the book........
And honored to have my shop listed as a shopping source, among some other fine shops......
So....I guess that you want to know how to win these fabulous prizes, oui?
