French Style Living Room....Pared In White

The good thing about being in this business of antique selling for many a year now is that I have "stuff", and lots of it! I wish that we had a basement or decent attic for storage, but that's not the case. Still I have lots to use to style my home with on a whim or to change it up for the seasons. The thing is that although I am inspired by many of the beautiful vignettes I see out there in bloglandia, I don't want my own home to look like a store. I work with so much "stuff" on a daily basis that I need my home to be a refuge of calm these days....and I've taken to storing the extra "stuff" away. It may look like this today...but tomorrow, who knows? I've still got plenty of pink, a ton of turquoise and a plethora of pretties to use!

Here is the living room as it looks today with French inspiration and pared down a bit. Still need a rug and trying to decide if I want to use the huge faded vintage one that was in our bedroom at one time or perhaps just a natural wool sisal. What do you think?
I adore old metal work pieces! The gates came out of an old home here and my sweet hubby brought them home for me. The coffee table is a marriage of an old painted iron garden table base and another cast off....piece of Carrera marble.....
Not sure if I'll leave that painting up or do something else. Any ideas? The painting is an antique French rug study.....
Mantel vignettes are always temporary around our home, changing on a weekly basis.....
Old tattered to perfection books, antique beaded domes from France, alabaster compote and beaded fruit under cloche....
More old books, one of my many antique door stops and an ironstone bowl with old wedding flowers & rosaries...
Tattered antique trophy with fresh white hydrangeas
Love the juxtaposition of soft pieces against hard, tattered with fancy (where the name of my business Shabbyfufu comes from!).....
Tufted white antique French sofa love.....
Ever changing array of pillows around here.....
Stack till you drop.....broody antique rose paintings, old white painted frames, ghost mirror....
Tufted love again. Our older daughter says that she has dibs on this piece if I ever decide to let it go......
Love my pair of old French club chairs. Squishy and large, a great place to sit and read a favorite book.....
Light fills this room for the morning, making it the perfect spot for photo shoots.....
That's it for today......Off to relax for a long weekend at the beach before hitting it up big time to post all of the new items that I've been working on for the website next week!

Please take a minute to visit our Sponsors and I'd love to have you follow my blog and/or leave a comment! My Kitchen & Dining Decor.....Pared In White

Hi friends and Happy Spring to you!

I have been super busy in my studio with orders from the website and working on new projects to list, but wanted to pop in and share a few photos with you that I recently shot of my kitchen and dining area here in our home......

Like so many of you, I spend lots of time in my kitchen. It's not fancy or "kitchen perfect" and certainly there are things that I would change, but it's functional and I love the clean white look that it's worn for the 20+ years that we have called this house our home.

The floors are practical and look like stone, but are porcelain tile...which is a must here in Miami due to the humidity. Also practical, the granite counters and white cabinets and appliances. Am I the last holdout that doesn't have stainless steel appliances?......
Other side of the kitchen looking into the family room.....
I collect old windows and have a grouping on the wall in the family room....see?......
We don't have a formal dining room and wouldn't need one, since most of the time when we entertain it's done poolside, Florida style. Looking into our dining area....I would love to change out the chairs some day, but have lots of different slips that I've sewn to change up the look.....
I've collected vintage aqua pottery for many years, and it just goes with the green glass top table and the aqua water of the pool right outside.....
The pool is pretty close to the house, so watch out! We have a large piece of property for Miami standards and a canal that runs behind as well, making this a peaceful and quiet place.....
I hope that you enjoyed my little tour. I'll be back again soon, and have more to that giveaway that I mentioned....so check in for that!

Romantic Prairie Style Is Here!

Greetings friends....I hope that you all are doing well. If you are a fan of any of the now numerous blogs out there that feature romantic decorating style, then you are probably well aware of Fifi O'Neill's new baby (book, that is!) Romantic Prairie Style. It's out!

I received my copy earlier today and have been pouring over the beauty contained in between the covers of this hardback, and really do need to put it down because I am supposed to be working on my company taxes! Here is just one photo that I am sharing because I know that you'all either have ordered it yourselves or will rush right over to Amazon.com (there is a link in my sidebar...and NO, I don't "get anything" out of it if you click & buy!) and purchase a copy. You won't be disappointed ladies, it's very lovely...well thought out, styled, photographed and written.
I was pleased to see some of the linens that Fifi had asked me to make for her own home shoot shown on the bed in her guest cottage:-). The runners can be purchased by preorder on my website HERE, the burlap & lace pillows are One Of A Kind and at the moment I don't have any on the Shabbyfufu website (sold out) but I hope to sew up some more soon......

If you read my little secret share in my previous post...no, it's not this. Something else and I'll share when I can...soon.

I hear that it's still cold in many places, so I am leaving you with a little warm weather inspiration today. Some photos that I recently snapped at our beach home on a hydrangea happy day.

Just Another Pretty Face

Greetings to all.....I appreciate you taking a few minutes of your time to visit with me.

Here is a project that I just finished up on today....a custom romantic dressform order for a client who already has one of these and requested one in these specific color tones for another room. Just another pretty face I guess you could say!

Before I sign off I wanted to share that I received my advance copy today of the next issue of Cottage Style Magazine that is due to hit the news stands soon. I've been a contributor to this magazine as well as Romantic Country Magazine for quite a few years now, and was happy (of course!) when the editor Janet Mowat had contacted me to see if I might share a piece with the readers on my teacup chandeliers. We used a teacup candelabra that I had made and there are some basic instructions (sorry, no trade secrets:-) with the article for all of you DIY enthusiasts as well.

Not a DYI'er? I have a couple more that I'm working on for the website to come soon....
Please look for Cottage Style when it comes out on the news stands shorty! Lots of yummy content including a preview of my lovely friend Fifi ONeill's new book Romantic Prairie Style, that you can preorder from Amazon by clicking on the link in my sidebar.
I have some other news that I'll be able to share shortly:-).....until next time
