In Threes

While I have been working away in the "packing and shipping dept" at Shabbyfufu today, my hip young daughter texted me the news that yet ANOTHER magazine is biting it! Click on the photo below (courtesy of gawker.com) to read about the closure of DOMINO Magazine. Three down in the last couple of weeks~it's mind boggling!

Admittedly I am not a huge fan of modern decor, but I do like to see what all of the trends are.....and so this was one on my shelf every month. Who will be next I can't help but wonder?

I have been enjoying doing a little bit of Photoshopping in my spare time late at night, mostly after Mr. Fufu is already down for the count for the eve. I am far from an expert, there is a lot to learn....but I have been doing some digitally collaged tags for SHABBYFUFU, and they have been really well received~so I hope to do some more as time permits. Here is just one that I worked up, with an antique sepia type finish. You can see more in the Pastelle Paperie by clicking on the photo below.

Back to the packing....we will be off on another BUYING TRIP in the wee hours on Friday morning, so will talk to you soon!

Another One (Two) Bites The Dust

I was sad to receive this card in my mail today and so surprised!

I must admit that I wasn't so crazy about the artsy fartsy direction that it was gravitating towards lately. I prefer looking at the older issues with more home decor. Oh well.....Martha Stewart is a good substitute, and I look forward to receiving that one on a regular basis.

You might already know that this other long time magazine is ceasing publication as well.

Once again, I had been a long time subscriber but stopped my patronage about two years ago when the magazine seemed to change course. I say....DON'T FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKEN, and know who your reader base is and what they enjoy! I will stay loyal to Romantic Homes Magazine and Romantic Country Magazine for now. How 'bout you?

I listed a whole bunch of pretty things on the website yesterday, so I hope that you can come over for a visit. Just finished this vintage barkcloth and millinery dress form this afternoon and she is now posted too.

Butta Numba

I have been thinking a lot lately how age truly is but a number butta numba (but a number) with this new year just starting out and my b'day coming up next month. Generally speaking I feel pretty good, but when I get sick (like a few weeks ago) I remember how much I hate feeling crappy.....so I am going to try and really ramp it up even more this year and look to my sweet Mr. Fufu for inspiration. We are not so young...no kiddos for us until over 30 and now our oldest is 25, so you do the math. This guy is going to be doing the Miami Marathon on Sunday, although the 1/2 has become his ritual the last couple of years. Still a very respectable 13+ miles, and he is built for speed!


No way could I....but he has the whip on me to exercise every day~lol! We just spent a couple of days at the tail end of our Buying Trip at our beach home, and he had me out doing 4 mile walk/runs on the beach.

And to work off any of the excess holiday chocolate 8 miles of trail riding in the mangrove preserves. WHEW!

We are contemplating penning an exercise and fitness blog somewhere down the road....you know, for us "older folks". Let me know if you might be interested....I will pass the info along to the Mr.

Doing this post a bit backward, the Buying Trip was a big success and lots of fun.

We went to several of our usual and customary haunts, including Renninger's Antique Show in Mt. Dora. I was pleasantly surprised to meet up with Kim Ryan the very talented rose painter and owner of the Shabby Rose Studio, who I have known for years on the internet. Not only can she paint, but she has a FABU new line of clothing called Paris Rags.

Kim's daughter Mikayla is an entrepreneur in the making and was a bonafide assistant.

I purchased a couple of her gorgeous perfume bottles. This one is now at home in our beach home with an aqua and pink vignette.


Whaddaya think, a new idea for a Shabbyfufu Dress Form perhaps? (NOT!)


I am going to be holed up in my own studio this week, as I have LOADS of projects to work on and hope to have posted on the website this weekend.........while I am NOT running a marathon!

Shabbyfufu Shop Talk And Babbling

I am finally feeling human again and just wanted to pop in and say Hi to my sweet friends:-). We are FINALLY ready to take our postponed road trip tomorrow, so I need to go and pack ~although attire with be light with the gorgeous weather that we have been experiencing down here in the deep South.
I really don't get sick very often...so it hits hard when I do, and it's tough for me to take it easy which is not my style. So off we go in the morning to do some shopping for the website and to stock up on some supplies for my studio. First on the agenda, we will be visiting our girly Fufu who is a senior at the University of Florida (go Gators~National College Football Champs!) and will be set to graduate in the Spring.

In the green dress, with a college friend....making a New Year's Eve toast in our kitchen.


The weather down here is perfect for outdoor activity right now, and I hope to do some flea marketing along the way. While I was recooping this week I worked on a few new things for the website that were posted today:

Desperately Seeking Wellness

It seems that everyone I talk to these days has come down with some kind of crud, and I have not been around Bloglandia much lately as I have it too. I have been popping this stuff:

I don't seem to have my usual boundless energy, so have been trying to rest more and catch up on reading these:


The weather here in Miami has been picture perfect, so all of the Northern folk are down here now enjoying and bringing their Northern colds! Speaking of picture perfect....this photo is a bit blurry, but I took it of one of those fabulous Miami sunsets as seen from our back patio.

I have been doing a little bit of work in the Studio, and came up with this concept that we posted on the website a couple of days ago:

They have been a hit, and we only have a couple left at this time:-).

We have a week long website Buying Trip planned and will be heading out this weekend sometime, where we plan on doing plenty of this:
