Living down here is mostly good, but it means that you have to be prepared for something that we all dread.....hurricanes. We have one that appears to be headed directly for us (Hurricane Ike), and this weekend it's going to be time to prepare. Living here for most of my life I will never get used to them. Our house was destroyed back in '92 with Hurricane Andrew and we were in it at the time with our young family all hiding out in a bathroom with everything being torn apart around us.....a scary experience to say the least. We rebuilt and it's stronger now, and thankfully the kids are off with their own lives in cities further north in our state. Hopefully this one won't be as bad.....please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I will be working as long as the power remains on, and the storm isn't due to make U.S. landfall until Tuesday.....so hopefully I will get lots posted on the website between now and then. Will talk to you soon and hope that you enjoy your weekend~

I will certainly be praying for you! I live in NY, so the thought of it would certainly rattle me :-) I can't imagine having your house destroyed while you are in it! Heck, I will even pray that you don't even lose power!! Will be looking out for another post.

Hi Janet, I will be sending prayers for you and all in Ike's path. We are located where Rita hit and had trees in houses everywhere. Mom's was the worst. It is so hard to prepare and get ready, please keep us posted and be safe.

Janet, I simply cannot imagine the strength and fortitude you must possess to weather these types of storms. I had no idea you were in your home when Andrew struck. How unbelievably scary!

I totally understand how you feel. As you know I am in West Palm Beach and I too feel like I am in paradise,but if only we did not have hurricane season. Thank God it didn't hit us after all. I dread losing power,our food going bad,no cool air and all the other fun stuff that we have to deal with. Love the palm tree. I saw a beautiful very bright green iguana in my back yard yesterday. I should have taken a picture! lol
