Romantic Country Magazine

Okay, I have been receiving the emails from you sweet ladies asking what happened to my Christmas home photo shoot that was shot for Romantic Country Magazine last January? Let me preface by saying that it was tons o' fun meeting Fifi and Dan (& Chitsu). When Fifi first had contacted me about doing a shoot here after seeing my home in some of my website vignettes....she asked what the possibilities were of shooting Christmas right after the holiday. That wouldn't have worked for me, as our girls were home from college for their break at the time....which meant a big mess and lots of friends coming and going. So....we left the Christmas decor up for what seemed like an eternity!! I think that it was mid~January when the crew arrived, and that shoot was done in about a day and a half. Then everything was literally thrown into the garage to do the "regular" home shoot....leaving me with a Christmas mess to sort out later on. Apparently since that shoot was in the last issue with an eight page spread, and there was only so much room for Christmas~they are holding the shoot here until NEXT YEAR! A long time away, but that's how it sometimes works in I have come to know as a writer as well:-). There were a couple of shots taken here placed in the issue that I will share below.....these were from my home, although not mentioned as such:

As it gets closer to Christmas I will share more, along with some projects and decorating tips here on the blog.

There definitely was some lovely eye candy in the magazine, but I am not sure what to think of Rachel Ashwell's new style??? What do you ladies think? My sweet blogless friend Debbie LaFrance who has done some work for the Shabbyfufu website in the past as a guest artist had her Christmas home showcased~Beautifully! Without going into detail, her family has been going thru one of life's toughest moments and can use some prayers~if you are so inclined I know that it would be appreciated.

That's it for today my friends, I have been holed up in my studio with some projects this week that I need to get back to. Enjoy your day!

Hi Janet! Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog today! I am so sorry you had to go through that too! It is hard to believe people can act like they do.

I cannot wait to get my copy of Romantic Country in the mail! Do yo know if this issue is being sent out or do we need to buy this one? I am anxious to see what you are talking about with Rachel Ashwell's new style and your friends home! I will add her to my prayers.

I love to find blogs that share so many good ideas and are so lovely to look at. I truly enjoyed my visit here today.
I just found an old dress form and you have given me some inspiration to make her look pretty.
I will say a pray for your friend.

Well, I guess it's safe to say that your decorating style is ahead of it's time! 2 YEARS ahead of it's time to be exact! LOL! Congrats, please keep us all posted as it gets closer to the release date.
How exciting that must've been to do a photo shoot at your lovely home! What a lot of hard work, too!

Hi Janet,
Does this mean RC is out? Hmmm, I have not received my issue yet & I have the nicest mailman in town so I don't think he's reading MY copy... I look forward to seeing your Christmas home next season and I'm sure I'll inspired Christmas, 2009 by you and as you share more with us as the season approaches as well.

I will keep your friend, Debbie in my prayers & light a candle tonight for her & her family.

You're always in my thoughts, even though my blogging skills have suffered somewhat lately. Take care, Janet ;)

I must pick up my copy of the mag tomorrow. I'm anxious to see Rachel's "new style". I'm sorry they pushed your article until next year. How disappointing.

Hi Janet
I'm looking forward to the Romantic Country Magazine's Christmas edition, can't wait to see your decorating ideas. It must have been a major upheaval with the two photo shoots!
I'm sending lots of positive vibes to you blogless friend Debbie, whose work is stunning, let's hope it all works out for her and her family
I admire Rachel Ashwell's new style, not sure if it would work for me.....I like to have a collection of all sorts of different styles in one room - just because I like something and not necessarily because it all has to go together, I probably didn't word that properly, hope you get the general idea
take care Janet and I hope you achieved lots with your new projects

Hi Janet, thanks so much for your sweet comments, thought the book in the works is realy , the magazine was for fun! You can make a cover of a magazine you would publish at flickr, it was fun, I only wish it were a reality! Anyway I think I know where Rachael is going with her new style... She says as she gets older the need to simplify becomes important, I feel that way sometimes too, like I want to get rid of everything, though I love all my little treasures, its nice to have it simple sometimes. I'm so sorry about your article!! Next year!! I was waiting for Contry Victorian to come out with my photos and when I rushed to look thru it after waiting months poof! Nothing!! I was so sad about that,so maybe it will be in a the next who knows, it was a bummer though!!! Hugs to you !!Kimberly

Janet, I'm very sorry to hear the dissapointing news. I have a hard time waiting for anything, and if I'm having anxiety over waiting until next year to see your home for Christmas, you must be going out of your mind.

I'm with you on Rachel's new style, and I'm still scratching my head over this one.

Well, all I want for Christmas is...more pics of Janet's house! LOL! Oh well! Anyway, I'm totally digging Rachel's new style. :) It's much more "me" since I'm not much of a pink girl. I love, love, love the Berkeley Sofa, but $8,900 is WAY out of my price range for a piece of furniture! Your friend is in my thoughts, and hopefully everything works out there.

How lucky for you to have such a beautiful home that it is/was/will be in many magazines! I am happy to say I have a few FooFoo items! I had the pleasure of an editor scouting my home, although I acted like such a "giddy" idiot, nothing ever came of it :( Oh well, but I do have one question..after looking at the Rachel article and "Less is More", and another one says "surround yourself with things you love" I am confused. I Love my things, but after a neighbor said my home looks like a gift shop, I didn't know if I should sell her something or show her the door! I would assume the decorating fad is what makes you happy.
